When I started my career in the early 90s in Memphis, I was a regular on Beale Street for Tuesday amateur nights. Being a budding copywriter, I figured I should try my hand at some lyrics. As I quickly found out, blues lyrics have to come from a deep down place in your soul. That didn’t stop me from cranking out a bunch of great hooks that would work well as old-school country lyrics.
Turns out the practice was worth it. I ended up writing several jingles over the years. Most notably, I wrote the jingle for Virgin Drinks when they launched in the US… Virgin Puts the Voom in Your Va Va. I’m willing to write jingles for any brand that needs me.
Without further ado, here are some country lyrics. If you’re up for putting some music to them and knocking out some demos, hit me up. Or, better yet, if you’re an agent and want to get me a nice check, I’ll be happy to set up a satellite office in Nashville. There are more where these came from. Of course, all of these have a poor-man’s copyright on them. I’ve got the envelopes from 1992.
