Locked in the Chifforobe

When I thought I had found an agent for my novel, I was encouraged to write a screenplay. While my novel never got shopped around, I did end up turning my next fiction concept into my first screenplay. And I turned it out in 21 days.

It’s called Locked in the Chifforobe and deals with a family in Vicksburg that happens to be grandfathered into the cocaine business thanks to century-old importing deal with a certain cola company. As life imitates fiction, the Murdaugh murder case in South Carolina happened less than a year after I finished it. All the same Southern Gothic elements are there: jurisdictional overlap, crooked law enforcement and judges, murder, and, as the title implies, the blackmail of closeted homosexuals.

Just in case it got picked up, I decided to lock in Southern Gothic Studios as a business idea to develop this and other concepts.

After writing my first screenplay, I understand that they are as difficult to read as they are to write. I’m putting this draft out there for anyone who may know an editor or agent who may be interested in developing and repping it. 334-313-6656
