If Somethin’ Ain’t Wrong, Somethin’ Ain’t Right

Wake up every morning on the wrong side of the bed,
Eyes always stingin’, bees swarmin’ in my head,
Pour myself some coffee, some cereal in a bowl,
Flakes are always soggy, coffee’s always cold.

Just the way things are,
Might as well not fight,
If somethin’ ain’t wrong
Somethin’ ain’t right.

Drive up to the factory in my rusted out Chevelle,
Red lights just ablazin’, lord it might as well be hell,
Punch the gas, close my eyes and leave it all to fate,
Ain't no use in tryin’ ‘cause you know I’m always late.

Lookin’ in the rearview lights have changed from red to blue,
Sheriff’s coming at me, rolling ‘cross the mornin’ dew,
I hang a left and start to run, just knowin’ I’ll be caught,
Day I was born, momma said it was my fault.

Just the way things are,
Might as well not fight,
If somethin’ ain’t wrong
Somethin’ ain’t right.

Lost my job, got thrown in jail, it’s just another day,
Had my only phone call, didn’t have nothin’ to say,
So called my momma’s preacher, to see what he could do,
Said, “Boy I couldn’t help you if an angel told me to.”

Just the way things are,
Might as well not fight,
If somethin’ ain’t wrong
Somethin’ ain’t right.
